Whether you’re in line for a giveaway, playing a game or talking to a friend, isn’t it the worst when all of a sudden you get lag. I’m sure all of us would agree but the sad thing is there is no way to get rid of it. However, contrary to belief we CAN reduce it until there is virtually no more lag! Here are some tips on how to beat our nasty friend lag:
1. First and foremost, if you do get lag at the worst possible time DO NOT try to bash and curse at your computer. Doing this will have absolutely no affect on your computers lag but if anything, you will only get the blame for breaking the computer.
2. Try to not have so many programs running at once. Big NO NO. I have been doing assignments, watching YouTube, listening to music, chatting on MSN and playing Habbo all at once - so I know from personal experience this can cause major lag. If you use dial up, this would especially apply to you.
3. If possible, try to connect directly to the internet. Although wireless internet has its moments, the best thing you can do is plug in the internet straight from the computer, so there is no way your computer can lose its connection. I myself used to use wireless and it would take up to 20 minutes for it to regain its connection.
4. Make sure to check for viruses. This is the number one cause of lag. You can download free virus scan software for your computer that is harmless. If something does pop up make sure you get it fixed ASAP.
5. Don’t dance so much! If you are a serious victim of lag, I strongly suggest to reduce the amount of time you spend dancing around the hotel.
6. Tone down your graphics settings - a well known trick which can help you to reduce lag.
Best of luck!
