Down But Not Out

Helpful hints for beating the blues.

Have you ever felt like sometimes you don’t fit in? Like everything’s going wrong, and you feel like the tides are going against you. You feel alone, lost and that nothing’s going right. Your homework keeps coming, exams, sport practice, music, friends all start to pile up and your brain is screaming!

I can’t make it all go away, but I can help with some small advice:
1. Get a piece of paper and write down everything you have to do for school. Writing this down will give you a visual aspect of the situation and seeing it will make it easier.
2. Tell someone how you’re feeling. You don’t have to but it does make you feel better, rather than keeping it locked away in your head. The person doesn’t even have to be real, you could tell your dog, toy or teacher, friend - someone who you trust
3. Think positive! This is really important!
4. Do something that makes you smile - read a favorite book, ride your bike, movies, friends etc.

These are just a few small points to lighten up your brain. So go outside and take a deep breath in and out. Don’t worry what others think about you because they don’t know you, know one does except you. Some days it’s hard, but it can get easier. And remember, you’re never alone, there’s always someone who will help you.
