The bus has come and gone for this month but before we forget about last month’s topic we need to announce the winners of the RO! Tackling Bullying Comp! Unfortunately everyone has experienced bullying either directly or through a friend/family. It is a huge problem not only in our schools but also on the World Wide Web.
Last month we were able to sit down in the bus and discuss this topic in a different light. The players who jumped on the bus discussed different ways of tackling bullying and were able to go away with ways to either help themselves or help their friends. You were all asked to visit RO! to get some tips, and tell us in what situation those would prove handy. So the winner of the RO! badge and the exclusive InfoBus poster is CaseyJones, with the winning entry of:
"Be confident"
In some situations where I’ve been bullied eg. verbally or physically, I try to stay positive and be confident. Don’t show you that it gets to you, because if you show them that it is in some way getting under your skin they will never cease to leave you alone. In some ways you can just walk away, not giving them the satisfaction of what they are trying to achieve, or contradict them by trying to show them that what there saying isn't as hurtful eg;
Bully: "You’re so ugly that you can’t even breathe!"
You: "Do you realise how stupid that sounds??"
Then they will look silly.
Also be a role model to others who are being picked on, by being confident. If others see your school yard bully trying to bring you down and you just not letting it get to you, they will see that the bullying isn't working.
"Hang around other people"
Bullies will never come up to you on their own or try and bully people in groups. If you stay with your mates and do your own thing you're more than likely to not be targeted by a bully.
Bullies prey on who they see as weak, powerless or an outcast. It’s just their form of proving how 'tough' they are, but to be honest it’s pathetic. No bully in their right mind (if they have one) will come towards you and your group just to annoy you or bring you down - it’s not in there blood lol. So stick around people who like you for who you are and not what everyone likes, no one likes someone who acts to fit in.
Our Runners Up for this competition who will also receive a RO! badge are:

Congratulations to all the winners. If you didn’t win this month don’t forget we have the new RO! competition - Shaken not stirred. GOOD LUCK!
