Slytherin owned a locket, which he kept a picture of Rowena Ravenclaw- fellow Hogwarts Founder, and Slytherin's great but secret love. The locket is now a priceless heirloom, kept in secret by a member of the Vine Family. We know Slytherin to be crafty and secretive, and he certainly kept his love for Rowena in such order.

Rowena Ravenclaw was famous for her wit and creativity. It is said that Ravenclaw was the most brilliant witch of her time, though legend has it that a broken heart contributed to her early demise. The cause, however was her secret love for Salazar Slytherin- as the two never proclaimed themselves. It is from their child Helena that the Vine family sprung. Ravenclaw's diadem is now in safekeeping with a member of the Vine family the last descendants of Slytherin and Ravenclaw
