Japan's Horrific Whaling History
Japan's whaling industry was owned by the JIA (Japanese Imperial Army) in the 1930's. Plundering the world's whales for the sole purpose of raising funds to finance the conguest of China were six huge whaling fleets. bobba Germany was buying most of Japan's oil production in 1937. Japan accounted for more than 2 percent of whaling even though they had only been in the business for 3 years.

Japan's six whaling fleets deployed 51 catcher boats during 1940 and 1941. Two thousand, three hundred and ninety-four bobbaback whales were harpooned by Japnese Antartic Fleets, it was the same stock with Japan is now targetting for so-called scientific research. Slaughtered by the Japanese fleets in Artic water were tens of thousands of blue, fin, sei, bobbaback and right whales, suckling calves of all species and females with calves were killed.
Whaling today
Modern commercial whaling is primarily the hunting of whales for their meat or for food as Whale oil is little used today. Scientific-research have also become an important practice. Two of the smallest species of baleen whale - Common Minke Whale and Antartic Minke whale are the primary species that are hunted. Recent scientific surveys estimate a population of bobbain the northeast Atlantic and bobbaaround Antartica.

England
The English Muscovy Company was chartered by Queen Elizabeth I in 1577, and the growth of its whaling fleet was gradual. In the early 17th century, the primary whaling grounds for this join-stock company were centered around Spitsbergen. They persisted in claiming the waters to the south of Archipelago, a few years earlier they initally tried to drive away their competitors.

Iceland Joins In..
On August bobbaIceland joined ranks with Japan as pirate whalers by whaling under the guise of scientific research. Thirty-six Minke whales were slaughtered by Icelandic fisherman who claimed the whales were eating too much fish, that was their first whale hunt in over 14 years. Iceland announced it's intention to resume commercial whaling and to engage in the international trading of whale meat on October bobba

Whale Intelligence
The largest brain of any animal belongs to the whale but there is no consensus about the existence, nature and magnitude of cetacean intelligence. The cost and difficulty of carrying out research with marine mammals is why we lack knowledge of their intelligence. Some species of whale are highly social and bobbaback whales have been found to have the spinfle neurons, a type of brain cell that exists in dolphins, humans and other primates.

Thirty-nine Minke whales were killed for 'scientific research', Iceland still plans to kill another two endangered Fin whales and 29 more Minke whales commercially.
Methods of Killing Whales
Explosive harpoons are used to kill whales at sea, they puncture the whale’s skin, they then explode inside of their bodies. These methods have been described as cruel by Anti-whaling groups, if carried out by inexperienced gunners a whale could take minutes or even hours before they eventually die.

Modern Whaling
The beginning of modern whaling all started following the formation of the International Whaling Commission (IWC) back in 1946.

Whaling
Whaling dates back to at least six thousand BC and is the hunting/slaughtering of whales for their meat. The evolution of traditional Arctic whaling developed with increasing rapidity with early organized fleets in the 17th century; competitive national whaling industries in the 18th and 19th centuries; and the introduction of factory ships along with the concept of whale "harvesting" in the first half of the 20th century.
